Fr ozen food storage When first star ting-up or after a period out of use, bef ore putting the products in the compar tment let the appliance run for at least two hours on the coldest setting, then turn the ther mostat knob to the normal operating position. Meat, fish and fruit should be thawed in the refrigerator compar tment and small pieces of meat can e ven be cooked while still froz en, but you m ust ensure that it is thoroughly cooked through. V egetables should be directly immersed in boiling water; ready-cooked dishes can be placed directly in the ov en in their aluminium wrapping. Defrosted cooked f ood must never be refr oz en. Freezing fresh f ood The 4-star compar tment is suitable f or long ter m storage of commercially frozen f ood and f or freezing fresh f ood. T o freeze fresh foods it is not necessary to mov e the thermostat knob from the nor mal setting. Push the f ast freeze switch at least 3 hours bef ore loading f ood. In any 24 hours y ou can freeze up to 4 kg of fresh f ood. Place the f ood to be frozen in the lower section of the freezer compar tment as this is the coldest par t. T o guarantee a good operation of the appliance during nor mal use, the dra wers should not be remov ed. Making ice cubes The appliance is provided with one or more tra ys f or ice-cubes tra ys. T o release the ice cubes simply give the tra y a slight twist. Do not use shar p or metallic instruments to remove the tra ys from the freezer. Setting the temperature The temperature inside the refrigerator is regulated by the thermostat with 6 temperature positions and an “OFF” (O) position. The intermediate position is usually the most suitable (3-4). T ur ning the knob to a lower n umber will cause the automatic defrosting to resume. F or better use of space, the front half-shelves can lie ov er the rear ones. Replace the light cov er by sliding it into its original position. 9 Check there is not a po wer cut by chec king the household lights. Check the fuse has not b lown. Ensure that the bulb is correctly fitted. Replace the bulb if it has b lown. Check the door light s witch is not jammed. Check the thermostat control knob mounted is tur ned to the correct setting relative to ambient conditions. Check the ambient temper ature is within the appliance’ s operating limits, please ref er to the installation section in this instruction book. Relocate the appliance if necessar y. Has door just been opened. If so leav e for a f ew minutes to allow the air pressure to equalise.
