boss fz-2 hyper fuzz manualFuzz 1 is used for a “booming” sound, Fuzz 2 for treble sound and Gain boost when the FZ-2 is used together with amp distortion. The FZ-2 attempts to create a fuzz sound reminiscent of the 60’s and 70’s but it also has the possibility to create a sound that is more in the grunge direction. You can also use the FZ-2 as a convenient gain booster. By lowering your guitar tone and selecting your front pickup you can get a ring modulation-style effect. (Fig. 1: Level 5, Bass 5, Treble 8, Gain 10, Mode Fuzz I) For an in-your-face grunge tones: Put the FZ-2 in Fuzz II mode and set the TREBLE TONE and GAIN to maximum. This lets you create an awesome grunge sound. (Fig. 2: Level 5, Bass 4, Treble 10, Gain 10, Mode Fuzz II) To use the FZ-2 as a treble booster: Set the FZ-2 to the GAIN BOOST mode and put it before another distortion unit and your amplifier to add extra punch for a powerful distortion tone. (Fig. 3: Level 8, Bass 5, Treble 6, Gain 8, Mode Gain Boost). I think it is no coincidence that another monster appeared this year: the Boss Hyper Fuzz. This pedal, produce from April 1993 to June 1997, is a Univox Super Fuzz clone, with some added features. Mine is from August 1993! It was used by Pete Townshend during live performances of the Who, and then used by many bands with a heavy sound like Kyuss, Fu Manchu or other stoner rock bands. In particular, the Hyper Fuzz is used by Electric Wizard, a band famous for its subtle and thin sound (or not!). In short, as you understood, this fuzz is a war machine that will crush your ears once activated. It is so evil that legend says: each time you step on it, someone dies. The Boss FZ3 is close to a silicon fuzz face, whereas the Boss fz2 is really peculiar, really close to a Super Fuzz. Level sets the volume, second potentiometer sets bass and treble amounts and the gain potentiometer sets the fuzz amount. The last knob lets you choose between three modes: Fuzz I, Fuzz II and Boost that a simple clean boost.http://www.calabriainrete.com/public/boss-di-1-manual.xml

There is an octave down that is added to your guitar tone, which provides you a huge bassy sound, and a slight octave up, more hearable when playing near the 12th fret. The octave up sounds a bit like an octavia, but with less octave. I really like it, it is a riff machine that makes you wants to tune down your guitar. It is easy to play powerful and heavy riffs. It is also really interesting on bass guitars. Here is a nice example on a bass: After opening the pedal, we can see a monolayer PCB, with shapes that look a bit like the Boss DD2: Here is the most interesting side: They are used to set bass and treble content of the circuit. If we take a look at the transistors: Whereas with low gain transistors, the sound is smooth, heavy and saturated. When the circuit was conceived in the 60s, there were no such things such as high gain silicon transistors, this is why low gain transistors are required to make it work correctly. Then, there is the bass and treble control circuit with 4 OP amps, and the switch that allows you to choose between Fuzz I, Fuzz II and the boost. Indeed, in vintage Super Fuzz, the output signal was really low, and generally lower than the bypassed signal. It is not a simple circuit, maybe it is even overcomplicated. However, it is true that the vintage Super Fuzz already have a lot of components. To go further: Boss Fz-2 manual (pdf) Boss Area Hyper Fuzz page. Most likely you will be tempted to crank the gain, but you may find that lower gain can actually sound heavier. Highly recommended. Boss used an opamp instead of another transistor and they added a useful treble and bass tonestack there. I enve ropened my hyperfuzz when I had it so I am unsure if it had Panasonic transistors for the fuzz like in the univox I owned, but they're unremarkable devices so it probably doesn't matter what's in this circuit. Because of the different output section this pedal plays well into wah and other effects whereas my superfuzz was finnicky.http://www.goldfingers.fr/userfiles/boss-digital-recorder-micro-br-manual-espa-ol.xml I owned this prior to the superfuzz and didn't even know it did octave when I bought it. I didn't bond with this type of fuzz at the time but I've since become a fan and wish I still had the FZ2. The Behringer superfuzz is a cheaply made copy. Sometimes I use an overdrive or distortion pedal to boost the gain of the fuzz, that increase the colors of the sound. Very usefull to play stoner rock, alt rock or 60's stuff. Der Lack sieht gerockt aus. Der Doppelregler ist etwas fummelig zu bedienen. Man muss den Regler, den man nicht drehen will immer festhalten, dass er sich nicht mitdreht.Ansonsten funktioniert alles top. Follow this Product Overview The FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz by Boss packs two unique fuzzes into one compact unit while boosting gain. It can recreate a traditional fuzz sound, but it also has the capacity to generate a more modern distortion. With two tone controls, you can adjust to your heart's content until you achieve the perfect, precise tone you're looking for. The FZ-2 attempts to create a fuzz sound reminiscent of the 60's and 70's but it also has the possibility to create a sound that is more in the grunge direction. The FZ-2 can also be used purely as a gain booster with no added distortion. About 35 000 FZ-2 pedals was produced. There are no known production changes. The two fuzz modes are switchable via footswitch for multiple tone settings on the fly. Please refer to our FAQ page for more details before placing an order.http://www.raumboerse-luzern.ch/mieten/bosch-kl-1206e-manual Use the Fuzz as a convenient gain booster or, with 3 modes and 4 different controls, you can create a wide variety of fuzz tone sounds. It really destroys everything that pass thru it. The gain mode is best to produce feedback noises. The fuzz II setting is all out slaughter especially if you like it harsh and more especially if you crank the treble. The gain boost is kind of neat too especially if you're using something that overdrives well when you send it a really hot signal rather than new PA gear for amplification. Wide palate of sounds. Potentially really harsh. BOSS pedals are flimsy and cheap. I have yet to meet one I didn't break--this included. It's noisy and it sucks tone when it's off. Uncharacteristically savage for a Boss Pedal, the FZ-2 produces slight upper octave harmonics in both of its fuzz modes. The tones can vary as others described in previous reviews, and I am finding it to be more flexible than my former Ampeg Scrambler clone (which I traded for the FZ-2). Sounds interesting placed after modulation. All in all, offers tones that are suitable for both ambient and industrial (guitar) noise. Can't handle chords (though the results can be usable sometimes). Discontinued and somewhat difficult to find. Fuzz 1 is less brutal than fuzz 2, but it has a better control on low frequency sounds. Boost function is huge. I've found it very useful. But if you like a fuzz with great sustain, don't play with it: try a Big Muff or a Blue Box, instead. Useful when rigged in parallel through a mixer, though you can gradually add its effect to a signal directly by using only the pedal's controls. No complaints. Will look to get a second one. Or maybe compare it to the Zoom fuzz factory that others have been raving about on this site? Try it before and after a phaser, or in between two phasers. Wow. Fuzz 2 has got that brutal Big Muff style bass heavy fuzz tone, with scooped mids.http://apartments-ivica.com/images/boss-fz-2-hyper-fuzz-manual.pdf There's a great doomy sound to it, the built noise gate adds a slight decending swoosh to single notes which is great. Sounds good on bass and lower sounds. It doesn't sustain that much as one reviewer pointed out, but it's still very playable. It sustains more than some people say - the notes don't get rudely cut off like some gated pedals. It's got plenty of gain and it's very useful for noise. It's also got a massive gain boost mode (up to 26DB!) that you can also taylor the EQ for. Even if you don't like the fuzz it's worth getting just to add a hotter signal to your chain. Great grungey and sludgy pedal. Lots of bass and lots of gain. Loud, and noisy. Great boost function. Quiet, not noisy at all. Is this a good thing though. Doesn't cut though mixes that well. Can't use the boost and fuzz modes at once. Fuzz 1 is a little boring. All bass, no treble all gain. Brilliant pedal for sludgy sounds. This does what is has to well. One thing to remember though is the volume control does not work in boost mode, so it's best to just leave the vol.Level knob, tone: treble and bass and a gain knob.Well recently i saw one used and since i didn't really have a fuzz pedal, only overdrives, i had to have it. When it finally arrived i was extremely dissappointed. It oscillates on either fuzz mode at anything less than full gain. Horrible! The tone controls are weak also. Did i mention absolutely zero sustain. That is it's biggest downfall. It does have the redeming third function of a gain boost, except you need to have your amp set at a pretty high volume level to begin with in order to make a smooth transition from bypass to gain boost. If you are playing at a high bypass volume level the gain boost is realy cool though since you can shape it into a more crunch, more treble, more bass or combination boost. A little drastic at a low amp volume, but the only feature I enjoy. Heavy oscillation factor! (maybe you like that in a fuzz). A really unique and fairly rare BOSS unit.https://assurancemauricie.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626ecc87e80d0---bosch-nexxt-500-plus-series-gas-dryer-manual.pdf Does the heavy doom rock or 60's fuzz sound depending on which setting you use. Has two fuzz modes and a boost function for 3 total settings in one. Has a few faint nicks here and there and one of the knobs has a little worn spot on the edge (see pics). Includes box and manual which are both hard to come across. Have to pay some bills. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons! I never use it like that so I’m not sure what it compares to - I only use it for a slight boost with the gain right down, purely as a clean boost and not to push the amp harder. Great pedal. Great pedal. I've got both, and I can't tell the difference in sound. The Behringer is ?24 brand new, so you could buy three and have one set for each mode, for less than the cheapest, most beaten-up FZ-2. I do like the cheap orange plastic-ness of the Behringer too. And it seems well-made for what it is - the pots and jacks are perhaps a bit flimsy, but I haven't broken them yet. But I won't be selling the Boss any time soon. That's the only thing holding me back from the SF at the minute. Love the FZ2 sound. I just dopethrone it all.the.time I've got both, and I can't tell the difference in sound. It's a shame Boss hasn't released a Waza FZ-2 (HM2 as well). Even with the gain right down (volume does nothing in boost mode) it gives a big boost. I've never really use it as a boost until last week for a wedding gig when I needed a big more gain from my BD2W and it worked really well. I haven't used a Klone for some time but from memory the FZ2 doesn't have a mid hump and is a cleaner boost with alot of tonal options with the treble and bass controls. I love the FZ2 on mode 1 for some octave fuzz craziness into another dirt pedal, I have 2 of them! I have one of their old EQ pedals and the bypass definitely takes a bit of treble and sustain away. Even with the gain right down (volume does nothing in boost mode) it gives a big boost.www.csnjl.com/userfiles/files/canon-1ds-ii-manual.pdf I love the FZ2 on mode 1 for some octave fuzz craziness into another dirt pedal, I have 2 of them! I also have a spare long chip DD3 in case my DD2 dies. I also have a spare long chip DD3 in case my DD2 dies. I would prefer it not to be so. For bass I like the gain at 0 - it’s still quite fuzzy there - and the bass and treble about 2 o’clock, with level wherever balances with the clean sound (depends on the bass, but usually 12-1 o’clock). That makes Fuzz 1 my normal dirt sound, Fuzz 2 a huge boomy synth-fuzz, and the boost a slightly bigger tone without much volume boost. For bass I like the gain at 0 - it’s still quite fuzzy there - and the bass and treble about 2 o’clock, with level wherever balances with the clean sound (depends on the bass, but usually 12-1 o’clock). American sellers are asking ?100 or more. Not always for clean, boxed examples either! Another question, is it fussy about placement. Press J to jump to the feed.I read through the manual and it seems to suggest that it requires some sort of specific power supply. My pedalboard's power supply box is mostly just 9v 100mA, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows whether or not that would damage the pedal or starve it as opposed to getting some sort of proprietary power supply. If the polarity is the opposite, then you either need a converter cable or a separate power supply. It has some suggested models for power adapters but it doesn't really tell me much from what I understand. BOSS FZ-2 HYPER FUZZ PEDAL If you're looking at this auction. You already know how rare this pedal is. Out of the many Boss fuzzes, this is the best. The FZ-3 is very mushy at high volumes, whereas the FZ-2 hyper fuzz has great controls to add or remove tone to give your guitar the best sound. You can even get close to the octave fuzz sound of the Fender Blender(to my ears) but without it turning into a tonal mess. Superb! This pedal was produced December 1994. Fully tested and working. This pedal has a signature. Spacey sounding overdrive that became popular in the 70s with artists like Electric Wizard and Jimi Hendrix. The pedal went out of production and was largely forgotten until industrial bands like Orgy, Deftones, and Nine Inch Nails began using its sci-fi buzzsaw tones in the 90s. Since then, it has become a special collector's item for enthusiasts seeking to recreate the signature tones of these legendary acts. This pedal is in perfect working condition and accepts a 9-volt battery or a standard 9v DC guitar pedal power adapter. So I do not have the original adapter for this pedal. The shell of the unit has a series of scuffs and scratches from. more use. But the solid metal casing is not damaged at all.
